If you've bought an Ore shower curtain rod / pole from Ikea, and you're wondering how to extend, adjust, elongate or shorten it, the answer I got from Ikea customer services is.......

You can't. It's just a set length, with a spring-loaded mechanism to keep it tight in that set length. Sigh...

hi, i'm just a stranger who bought the same ore rod and can't figure out how to extend it. so i googled and came across your blog.

i'm sure you've figured it all out, but just in case... as i've finally figured out the picture instructions... you just have to pull it hard, pull it out. but be careful not to over-pull it to a longer length, else you've have to pull the whole thing out and insert from the other end and do all over again.

thanks! i had figured out how to lengthen, but couldn't shorten it. you are right...just have to pull the thing out and reinsert to start again. PERFECT! IKEA could improve its diagram a bit...and have website instructions, too. thanks again.

Are you guys engineers? Just take inner rod out completely, then slide it in again in the opposite direction. The easiest thing in the world!
